School Overview
|
South Bunbury Primary School, established in 1913, has a highly regarded history of providing quality education to generations of families. South Bunbury Primary is located on the traditional lands of the Noongar Wardandi people and we acknowledge and respect the contribution they make to the education of everyone in our school community. Staff at South Bunbury Primary seek to support each individual child to 'believe, leap and achieve' in all areas of their development. Educators regularly engage in targeted professional learning and collaboration to develop and implement whole school, evidence based processes and programs to effectively meet the needs of every child. Our staff actively reflect on data to implement academic programs based on research and evidence of best practice. Staff lead the improvement of the school through their involvement in a variety of curriculum and wellbeing teams with a focus on increased outcomes for students. Our whole school 'You Can Do It' and Positive Behaviour Support program supports the social emotional and wellbeing of all students.
South Bunbury Primary School is proud to be a community of learners, in partnership with the community it serves. Our holistic approach to learning is strongly supported by facilities including a purpose built Early Childhood Education area, Music, Art and ICT classrooms, therapy and sensory rooms, a spacious Library, and a Nature Play space. South Bunbury Primary School is co-located with South Bunbury Education Support Centre, providing many opportunities for staff and students to learn from each other. Our school offers students various opportunities to broaden their learning through programs such as our 'Student Leadership', 'Waste Wise Warrior Sustainability' and 'Ripper Skippers' programs.
Our Pre-Primary and Kindergarten classes continue to implement rich play-based programs that incorporate explicit teaching aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards. Our 'Transition to Kindergarten' program which runs weekly during Term Four, provides students and families with a supported transition to the school environment.
The committed and active P&C support for projects such as the Breakfast Club, Canteen, Nature Playground development and the purchase of items such as reading books and ICT equipment has provided benefits for the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of all students.
