Phoenix Primary School believes in enabling students to reach their academic, social and emotional potential whilst becoming valuable members of the community. As a community our mission is to deliver an excellent standard of education that supports students to achieve results equal to and above state norms. We are an Independent Public School near Coogee in Hamilton Hill. Our students enjoy extensive, well developed outdoor play areas including a large oval, netball courts, climbing frames and nature-based play areas. Students are from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, and we like to acknowledge, embrace and celebrate our diversity.
Our school provides high quality education, alongside innovative programs and services which cater for the needs of each individual child and their family. Our early childhood staff provide innovative and engaging classes for your child's first introductions to education. The expertise of all staff is apparent as they provide a well-balanced and challenging curriculum for all students. Our experienced staff work collaboratively to ensure quality evidence-based programs target the learning needs of all our students and that every classroom has effective lesson delivery.
We offer effective individualised literacy and numeracy programs to target the learning needs of all students, with opportunities for students who show strong academic talent. The school's teaching programs allow all children to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to become confident learners and empower them to reach their potential and strive for success, meaning and happiness in life.
We are proud of our reputation in providing a safe and nurturing environment whilst offering a diverse range of specialist subjects including Music (supported by the School of Instrumental Music at Fremantle College), Italian, Physical Education, Digital and Design Technologies (including coding) and Health. We embed ICT throughout a well-resourced learning environment to promote learning and engagement.
High standards of behaviour are expected and whole school engagement in our 'merit awards' and 'values certificates' help students understand the idea of reward and recognition for their efforts. They are valued. We instil our values of Courage, Creativity, Kindness, Resilience and Respect in each student to inspire them to become valued members of the community. Student welfare and happiness remains a high priority.
We are proud of our students' achievements and celebrate their successes in school and out of school, in their careers and sporting achievements. Phoenix is proud of our pastoral care programme and nurturing environment, which has been developed over the years. Our staff promote our vision of developing within each child resilience and the problem-solving skills essential for their future success.
As volunteers in our vibrant community, our School Board contributes to the decision-making progress of the school and the Fundraising Committee facilitates a range of fundraising opportunities. Together with our community we create the best learning environment for all our students.
