Halls Head College is an Independent Public School which caters for the very diverse needs of students. Our Mission is to 'nurture lifelong learners who contribute positively to the community' and by working in partnership with our parents, students and broader community we ensure each of our students are equipped with the skill set, knowledge and capabilities to be active and positive citizens, achieving success beyond Years 7-12. We are uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area of Halls Head College is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary. Our partner primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road.
Our college proudly offers a diverse range of pathways to our students in high level ATAR for direct entrance to University, Apprenticeship or TAFE options. Alternatively, for those students who are unsure of where they wish to head post school, we ensure they have the most competitive currency and skill sets to make well-informed decisions as they move forward.
Our staff are passionate in student engagement and continually create remarkable opportunities. We deliver specialist programs in Academic Extension, Art and Sports Academy, School of Instrumental Music, Japanese and a Noongar Language and Cultural Program. Our year 11 and 12 students have an opportunity to apply for our Senior School Transition Program (SSTP), a program supporting students transitioning from school into TAFE or other post school learning opportunities.
Exclusive to Halls Head College students is our popular Big Picture Academy. Big Picture Education philosophy is grounded in educating 'one student at a time' by promoting and creating personalised education programs unique for each student.
Our College privileges high pastoral care principles which prioritises communication and connection with our parents. Complementing this, our Student Services team work collectively with our community, ensuring our environment is safe and nurturing. In-house, we have mentoring and advocacy programs, providing positive guidance for our students. Relationships, Rigour and Relevance are key priorities for us in building a mindset of personal best for all. 'Learning for Life' is our Motto at Halls Head College and our students are encouraged to think critically and creatively, develop problem solving skills and work effectively both individually and in collaboration. Literacy, Numeracy and IT skills are all-encompassing in our College, as is Personal and Social capabilities, Ethical Understanding and Intercultural Understanding. Care Courage and Commitment are our three core Values that underpin all we do and stand for. Combine this with a technology rich environment and an ongoing drive to ensure Halls Head staff are up to date with cutting edge developments, and you have a recipe that ensures our students leave College well equipped for a fast changing future.
We have an impressive record of achievement in Vocational Education and Training. Our ATAR students have successfully gained entrance into the most competitive and demanding courses at universities, becoming competitive in W.A, nationally and internationally. Our partnerships with the Mining sector sees unique opportunities available to our students that aren't accessible to other Senior Secondary schools - private or state. In addition, both our Training Pathways and Big Picture Academies offer a different way through for a number of students. In privileging real world learning we have two student run businesses operating on site- our Breakaway Cafe and our Avante Printing. These afford our students opportunities to hone skills that are highly sought after in the workforce. Our college's impressive record of achievement is complemented by outstanding facilities, committed and experienced staff and a stable and dedicated Executive and Leadership group who are all working together, in partnership with our students and families, to ensure the best possible outcomes for every single student.
We encourage interested parents to visit our website or contact the college directly if you have any questions, wish to view the facilities or talk to the Principal.
