Aboriginal Tutorial Assistance Scheme
ATAS provides supplementary funding to schools to assist Aboriginal students to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. Schools have the flexibility to provide tuition in areas of need to Aboriginal students who require assistance.
Gifted and Talented - Selective Academic School/Program
The Gifted and Talented program is offered for the purpose of providing gifted and talented students entering Year 7, 9, 10 and 11 in public schools access to a range of programs that meet their specific talents.
As well as the extension and enrichment work in a special program area; students follow a normal course of study in secondary schooling.
The humanities program combines studies in English and studies in Humanities and Social Sciences and links classroom learning with community participation. Active citizenship is an important part of the program.
The mathematics and science program features regular participation in national and international competitions and these efforts have been rewarded with many trophies over the years. Each school has links to universities. The study program matches each student's interests and academic strengths. The learning environment is intellectually stimulating and rigorous.
