Clarkson Primary School is an Independent Public School catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in the suburb of Clarkson. Our high-quality teachers focus on developing a strong growth mindset and fostering a positive 'can do' attitude in every student. Our school delivers evidence-based learning programs, within a supportive and inclusive environment. Through our partnership with Real Schools, we embed restorative practices and relational approaches that strengthen student engagement, build positive behaviours, and support strong, respectful relationships across our school community.
As a Connected Community School, we work closely with families and community agencies to reduce barriers to learning and provide wrap-around support for students. This place-based approach enhances engagement, wellbeing, and access to services, ensuring every child is supported to succeed.
Clarkson Primary School celebrates a rich cultural diversity, with a high proportion of students from language backgrounds other than English. Approximately 17% of our students identify as Aboriginal, alongside families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds including the United Kingdom, New Zealand and various countries across Asia. We are proud to offer Noongar Language as our LOTE, strengthening cultural identity, connection to Country, and understanding of the local Whadjuk Noongar context.
Our school is supported by a range of specialised services, including a full time Student Wellbeing Officer, an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer and a school psychologist. Our Early Start Program for three-year-olds and their families supports successful transitions into Kindergarten. A variety of enrichment and engagement programs including reading enrichment, positive behaviour initiatives, Football Futures, Lego Club, and lunchtime activities such as Flag Footy, gardening and choir contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Specialist programs in Noongar Language, Science, Art, Physical Education and Music are delivered by highly skilled educators. These programs, alongside high-quality classroom instruction, create a high care, high performance environment where all students can flourish.
Built around the magnificent 250-year-old Tuart trees at the centre of our school, our grounds offer a rich and inspiring natural environment. Native gardens and outdoor learning spaces provide students with authentic, hands-on opportunities to explore and engage with the environment. This is further complemented by the ongoing development of a nature-based playscape that encourages active, imaginative and creative play.
Staff at Clarkson Primary School are committed to developing the whole child, placing students at the centre of all planning and decision-making. Our School Board, representative of both the school and wider community, plays a key governance role, supporting our strategic direction. The school is also supported by an active Parents and Citizens Association, fostering strong partnerships with families.
