At Yandeyarra Remote Community School we are committed to providing students with a high quality education, and access to the latest technology. Our aim is for our students to be at, or exceed, the levels achieved by students in like schools. We work hard and have fun.
Yandeyarra School is situated in a town site founded around the original homestead of Yandeyarra Station established in 1896.
Yandeyarra is on a large Aboriginal Reserve (229 512 Hectares) and was gazetted in 1972. Most community members are descendants of the Aboriginal people who settled in the location during the Pastoral Workers Strike of 1946 through to 1949.
For more than 40 years, our school has enjoyed a rich traditional and contemporary history. The traditional owners are the Kariyarra people and the three major language groups are Kariyarra, Nyamal and Nyangumarta.
Our school has two classes for our 27 Kindergarten to Year 12 students with literacy, numeracy, technology, attendance and health and wellbeing as our school priorities.
Whole school literacy, numeracy, STEM and other programs have been implemented and we value on country learning experiences for our students. The teaching of Nyangumarta language was implemented in 2022. Our students enjoy sporting and art activities along with playgroup, camps, excursions and incursions.
Our school receives significant support from local mining companies and other organisations which fund various programs across the school.
Our school is located in the centre of the community and consists of transportable buildings including library, STEM, computer, home economics and art rooms, two classrooms and an office. We also have many outdoor recreation and learning spaces including a large undercover basketball court.
