School Overview



East Kalgoorlie Primary School is a K-6 school located on the eastern fringe of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Our students are from all over the city, 95% of whom are Aboriginal. We have a strong and unique team who provides a variety of support for all students and their families.

Our vision is that at East Kalgoorlie Primary School, we are a community of lifelong learners, proud contributors to society and champions of our own success. We aspire to create a culturally responsive learning environment. We pride ourselves on having high-care conditions and ensure that all teaching and learning programs are robust and evidence-based so that all students can succeed.

Student access the Western Australian Curriculum and the teachers are provided with high-quality professional learning to develop their capacity in Explicit Instruction. Our school has specialist teachers, including Two-Way Science & Language (Wangkatja), Health, Sports & Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Technology. We have an intensive tier 2 invention process consisting of speech/language intervention, occupational therapy, literacy intervention and pastoral care support. These are available to students who require additional assistance. We also have a dedicated health and family support team on staff.

EKPS have developed strong relationships with the community and are committed to providing high-quality education. Our partnership with the Poly Farmer Foundation have provided opportunities for students to further extend their knowledge in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) an all students have access to iPads, robotics and other interactive equipment. WANSLEA provide much needed support in the Early Years by collaborating with the school in the KindiLink program, which is open to all students from 0 to school age. AngloGold Ashanti is a stakeholder of the school and sponsors a range of experiences and opportunities for our students, including, but not limited to 'Teach Learn Grow' tutors, leadership camps and financial contributions to evidence-based programs. Northern Star Resources has formed a strong connection with the school and continuously supports our school improvements by providing financial, human and physical resources.

Our facilities include a fully stocked library, learning support and health services centre, and kitchen that provides a healthy and nutritious breakfast and fruit every day. Our spacious undercover area, reception area and community room provide ideal spaces for community events and family liaison.
