Kensington Secondary School (6012)

School Overview

Welcome to Kensington Secondary School (KSS), situated on a spacious property in Kensington, conveniently close to the city. Established in 1962 as South Kensington School, KSS has evolved over the years, growing in both enrolment and infrastructure. Recently, we acquired an offsite campus, formerly used by Kensington PS as an offsite Kindergarten and owned by the City of South Perth.

KSS stands as the sole standalone high school education support setting in the state, offering a unique platform for staff to innovate and collaborate with families in shaping a productive and engaging future for their students. Our vision is to partner with families and service providers to create a supportive environment that enables students to access community resources on par with their non-disabled peers, fostering opportunities for them to develop essential skills for successful adulthood. 'Life Beyond School' encapsulates our commitment to this vision.

Aligned with the Essential 8 skills for a successful adult life, our dedicated staff integrate the WA Curriculum, ASDAN, Functional Life Skills, employment skills, and alternative-to-employment (ATE) skills into our programs. Working within a multidisciplinary team, we design, deliver, assess, and report on student progress, ensuring families are consistently informed about their child's successes and challenges.

We aim to collaborate closely with families in building their support networks throughout their child's high school journey, enhancing the capacity of the student's team to seamlessly transition to 'life beyond school'. We firmly believe in empowering students, their families, and their support networks to independently foster opportunities for a happy and successful life. Our ultimate goal is to equip students and their teams with the tools and skills they need for long-term success and independence.

If our vision resonates with what you seek for your child's education, we encourage you to reach out and schedule a visit today. We look forward to welcoming you and showcasing all that our school has to offer.
