The Gifted and Talented program is offered for the purpose of providing gifted and talented students entering Year 7, 9, 10 and 11 in public schools access to a range of programs that meet their specific talents.

As well as the extension and enrichment work in a special program area; students follow a normal course of study in secondary schooling.

The humanities program combines studies in English and studies in Humanities and Social Sciences and links classroom learning with community participation. Active citizenship is an important part of the program.

The mathematics and science program features regular participation in national and international competitions and these efforts have been rewarded with many trophies over the years. Each school has links to universities. The study program matches each student's interests and academic strengths. The learning environment is intellectually stimulating and rigorous.

Fremantle College's Academic Excellence Academy is a college-based program to engage high performing students in a stimulating and engaging academic environment in the subject areas of English, Humanities and Social Sciences, Math and Science.
Open to students in Years 7 to 9, an enhanced curriculum develops creative and critical thinking skills, preparing them for further study and the rigours of a constantly evolving world. Students are expected to maintain high levels of academic achievement to progress through the program, and will be supported within this.
Students have access to competitions, incursions and team challenges, and will be regularly engaging with Fremantle College's Gifted and Talented Selective Academic Program. Enhanced opportunities for academic differentiation and acceleration ensures that students in the program are able to successfully access a range of Senior School pathways.

The Fremantle College AFL Academy is a college-based program that caters for both male and female students from Year 7.
In collaboration with the South Fremantle Football Club, students have access to specialised coaching staff and AFL selectors, facilities and education programs. Training, skills development and individualised game analysis all support each student in the program to achieve excellence within the game and opportunities to pursue future pathways.

Students in the AFL Academy represent Fremantle College as a team, and are expected to demonstrate leadership, responsibility and teamwork in all aspects of their schooling and game.

The Fremantle College Specialist Contemporary Music Program provides students with opportunities to grow musically and personally in an environment that understands and supports musical creativity.
Offering a dynamic, enriched curriculum that anchors theory in practice and extends students to nurture their creative potential through the writing, arranging, recording and performing of their original compositions, there is also access to music lessons, and participation in bands and ensembles for public performances and competitions. The Calvert Music Centre, a 150 seat music auditorium and performance space, features integrated digital recording facilities, a keyboard lab, teaching studios and a percussion room.
Workshops, excursions and camps, as well as collaborating with professional musicians, are experiences that provide rich cultural and musical opportunities for students within the program.

The Fremantle College Specialist ICT Program offers students the opportunity to participate in a specially designed curriculum that will engage them in STEM learning to explore and solve real world issues.
Enriched studies are facilitated by specialist teaching staff, and resourced with the latest digital equipment and contemporary learning environments. Students can continue through the program to complete pathways for their WACE, and aspire to further study or employment within the technology field.

If your child is passionate about the study of marine based science, and loves the outdoors and adventure, we encourage them to be part of the Fremantle College Specialist Marine Studies Program, set in the pristine Cockburn Sound and Fremantle coastal marine environment.
Through the Specialist Marine Studies Program students gain a greater understanding of the complex issues that impact on our oceans, including global climate change, fisheries and food production, and maritime pollution, and take steps to support the conservation and management of the marine environment.
Opportunities to participate in snorkelling, SCUBA diving, camps, coastal excursions and boat handling with endorsed and externally recognised qualifications are included in the program, which has strong community links to Fremantle Ports, PADI, Curtin University, UWA, the Australasian Maritime Association and the CSIRO, and our state-of-the-art Maritime Trade Training Centre offers a unique hands on educational experience.
Our Specialist Marine Studies Program can lead to a variety of roles across industries including marine environmental management, fisheries, offshore oil and gas, tourism and recreation, marine biotechnology, biodiversity conservation and marine ecology.
