O'Connor Education Support Centre (6095)

School Overview

O'Connor Education Support Centre (OESC) is a Level 4 Government education facility co-located with O'Connor Primary School in the suburb of Boulder. The Centre supports students with a range of disabilities, with eligibility for enrolment determined by criteria set by the Department of Education.

Students attending the Centre have access to the school bus service for transport to and from school.

Our team of qualified Teachers and Special Needs-trained Education Assistants design individualised programs tailored to meet each student's unique needs. Every classroom includes a Class Teacher and several Education Assistants, ensuring that each child receives the attention and support they require.

In 2024, our student population increased from 52 to 54.

OESC is an integral part of O'Connor Primary School, with both schools sharing whole-school programs, common FAIR values, and a joint Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association. Where space permits, mainstream students with identified learning needs may access OESC programs to develop strategies that support their learning. The Centre's playground and sensory room are shared spaces that encourage inclusive play and positive social interactions between all students.

Students enrolled at OESC wear the O'Connor school uniform, reflecting a cohesive 'school within a school' identity.

Each student is individually assessed, and an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is developed in collaboration with parents and key stakeholders to support their educational, social, and emotional development. Parents are valued as essential partners in this process and are actively encouraged to participate in planning for their child.

A range of Therapy Providers deliver Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Therapy to students on NDIS plans during school hours. These therapies are integrated into the school setting through collaborative planning between classroom staff and therapists.
