Joondalup Education Support Centre (Joondalup ESC) caters for children from Kindy to Year 6 with global developmental delay, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and special education needs. We currently have between 60 and 65 enrolments. Our school is 3km away from Joondalup city centre and we share the grounds with Joondalup Primary School.
Parents and families are highly valued, active members of our school community. Our school staff welcomes opportunities to show prospective families around our innovative and progressive campus.
Our highly trained, specialised and dedicated staff, teach a range of quality programs which are individualised and specifically tailored to each child's individual needs and abilities.
All our students have access to individualised iPads which is used throughout the day. For some students, the iPad is a communication device. Technology has become a natural part of classroom teaching.
Our school has a strong focus on inclusivity so that some students with disabilities can work alongside their mainstream peers in planned activities based on their individual needs. Staff from both schools work closely together to provide maximum support.
Our classrooms have a high ratio of staff to students, and classroom numbers are kept small to ensure that each child is given every opportunity to succeed.
Joondalup ESC has a strong ethos of being a warm, caring and friendly community where every child is treated as a valued individual. 'Learning for Life' is a theme that we incorporate into every day.
