School Overview
|
Alkimos Primary School opened in February 2016 with 215 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Located on the eastern side of Alkimos, our intake area extends from Romeo Road in the north to Butler Boulevard in the south. Since opening, the school has experienced steady growth, reflecting the rapid development of the local community and our strong reputation for high-quality education.
In 2019, Alkimos Primary School was selected as one of sixteen Western Australian public schools to host a Specialised Learning Program - Autism Spectrum Disorder (SLP-ASD). This highly specialised, evidence-informed program supports students with autism to develop the skills and strategies required to successfully access mainstream learning. The SLP-ASD is central to our inclusive school model and demonstrates our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all learners.
Our modern facilities are purpose-built to support high-quality teaching and learning. The school includes five teaching blocks, an automated library, a fully enclosed and air-conditioned assembly area, and engaging outdoor environments such as nature play spaces and a 'loose parts' hub. All classrooms are air-conditioned to ensure optimal learning conditions year-round. In 2026, a new playground will further enhance opportunities for physical activity and social development.
Through a partnership with the City of Wanneroo, the school has adopted the bushland opposite our oval, providing rich opportunities for environmental and on-country learning. Our coastal location and the Greek heritage of the local area, reflected in the name 'Alkimos', contribute to our unique identity and strong sense of community pride.
We are currently undertaking a collaborative review to inform our 2026-2029 Business Plan. Through community voice, data analysis and reflective practice, we are identifying clear strategic priorities to guide our next phase of school improvement.
At Alkimos Primary School, strong relationships underpin effective teaching and learning. Our staff are committed to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement, working collaboratively to deliver engaging learning experiences that maximise student growth. Through a proactive and inclusive approach, we strive to develop confident, capable and compassionate young people who contribute positively to society.
We value open communication with families and recognise the importance of educating the whole child, ensuring academic achievement is supported by wellbeing, positive behaviour and inclusion. We are proud to be a vibrant, inclusive and forward-thinking school community.
Students benefit from a comprehensive specialist program including Science, Visual Arts, AUSLAN, Music and Physical Education, as well as enrichment opportunities such as Choir, Active Club, Environmental Warriors and instrumental music through IMSS.
