Campbell Primary School (5777)

School Overview

To nurture the hearts and minds of all is the school's mission statement, with staff committed to this mission. We are fortunate to have the most amazing students and supportive community with all upholding the school's values of Respect, Resilience and Kindness. Our staff, both teaching and allied professionals offer exemplary teaching practice and care for students. The school has a very strong pastoral care team with staff working collaboratively to ensure success for all students. Our positive student engagement policy is underpinned with a restorative practice approach to behaviour management and an understanding that we learn through making mistakes. A focus for the school continues to be to increase opportunities for student voice and enhance critical and creative thinking. The school has been a participate over two years in the Creative Schools Program and, as a result have adopted the Five Habits of Learning.

The Campbell PS opened in 2002 and has a longstanding reputation as a high achieving school with a safe and inclusive culture which supports the growth of the whole child. We are located 25 km South of Perth in Canning Vale within the South Metropolitan Education Region. Our school is rich in cultural diversity with 55% of our student population coming from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Our students achieve above like schools in NAPLAN testing. The quality of our teaching is recognised and valued by our community with survey-based staff ratings in all areas above or well above 80%. This is a testament to the high quality of our teaching staff and the programs we offer at Campbell PS. With a focus in our Business Plan on Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the school has adopted the Teaching for Impact statement recently released by the Department of Education and continue to work through our PLC model to reduce the variation between teaching practice. Our teachers deliver a high quality differentiated curriculum and research-based whole school literacy and numeracy programs. We implement phonological awareness programs and early intervention programs to ensure that all students are supported to reach their potential. This includes Cracking the Code in Kindergarten, Initial lit and Mini-Lit in Pre-primary to Year 2 and Macq Lit from Year 3. We are also proud of our top quality specialist teachers, who deliver science/STEM, music, dance, Italian, and physical education programs to achieve student growth.

Campbell Primary school has a very active and supportive School Board and P&C. The P&C helps contribute towards our vibrant school community through organising a variety of exciting and engaging events for student and the wider community throughout the year. Through fundraising, the P&C has recently helped improve our already impressive campus through contributing towards playgrounds and our new play hub initiative, the Chaplaincy program and the installation of interactive TVs for classrooms. Our facilities also include dedicated, specialised teaching areas for music, dance, science and the Languages program.
