Rostrata Primary School is an Independent Public School located in the southern Perth suburb of Willetton. Our school caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and is in the local intake area for Willetton Senior High School.
The school has a diverse multi-cultural population of over 930 highly motivated students, with very supportive parents and is staffed by a team of skilled, committed and innovative teaching and non-teaching staff who provide dynamic and evolving programs to cater for the needs of their students.
Our school believes in providing a high quality education that enables students to excel; academically, socially and emotionally. Continual academic success is achieved through staff working collaboratively to plan the implementation and effective monitoring of the Western Australian Curriculum. Over the past 4 years, teachers have engaged in significant professional learning to ensure we are implementing evidence-based, high impact explicit teaching in every classroom. The school has an instructional model and embedded engagement norms to maximise student progress and engagement. The school's Impact Teaching Practice model is aligned with the Department of Education WA's Quality Teaching Strategy and is supported by a team of lead teachers who are school-based instructional coaches, providing teachers with frequent opportunities for observation and feedback for professional growth. A rounded education is provided through a diverse range of programs including music, Kitchen Garden & Cooking programs, Italian, visual arts, physical education and Science which are taught by specialist teachers. We have a school wide focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) with innovation partnerships, extra-curricular competitions and projects to develop a range of enrichment opportunities for students. Our annual STEAM Festival is a highly engaging program supported by parents with expertise in STEAM, held every year to ensure every student in the school has the opportunity to engage in STEAM.
The social and emotional wellbeing of students is supported through our CARE Motto and Positive Behaviour Support School strategies, which create a positive learning environment for every student to succeed and accomplish their personal best. Our school Chaplain is also available for student and parent support. The school is also engaging in the Berry Street Education Model training to strengthen our approach through a a trauma informed, positive psychology model.
Parents are an integral part of the Rostrata community and are encouraged to participate through the School Board and Parents and Citizens Association. The high level of community involvement helps to promote and support the school and foster positive relationships between the whole school community.
The Rostrata Dad's group, part of the Fathering Project, aims to positively promote the important role of fathers and father figures through informal, fun and social activities.
