Burrendah Primary School (5591)

School Overview

Burrendah Primary School, in Willetton, caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school reflects our aspiration to see our students achieve to the best of their ability, by providing a supportive learning environment.

We provide a broad and balanced curriculum for our students, with system testing results being consistently high. Students access well regarded specialist programs in our purpose-built science laboratory/music specialist rooms, as well as health and physical education and visual arts. Students in Years 3 to 6 also have the opportunity to study Italian.

ICT is embedded within learning programs. Our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program using iPads commences for students in Year 4. The BYOD program will include Year 6 students this year. A range of interschool sporting events, arts competitions and other events provide additional self-development opportunities for students.

Programs are in place to support students at educational risk, as well as our gifted students with a preference for early intervention to ensure our students have a firm foundation on which to base future learning.

We celebrate cultural diversity, providing a comprehensive support program for students who are learning Standard Australian English as over half of our student population speak English as a second language.

Our Positive Behaviour Support program 'Growing the Burrendah Way' is becoming established in our school through our Behaviour Expectations; Respect, Responsibility, Resiliency and Reach.

Our school is well respected within the local community. We share a close working relationship with Willetton Senior High School and Castlereagh School, with the three schools being within one precinct area.
