Pannawonica School (5555)

School Overview

Pannawonica School is an Independent Public School located in the Western Pilbara, providing education from Kindergarten to Year 12. As a small regional school, we offer an inclusive, diverse and engaging learning environment that ensures every child in Pannawonica can access a high quality education.

Our staff are a highly motivated, professional, and collaborative team. They have developed a strong collegiate culture built on shared trust and responsibility for student learning and wellbeing. With a whole school approach to planning, assessment, professional learning and student support, every staff member contributes directly to school improvement and the success of our students.

Guided by our school vision, 'Ohana - nobody gets left behind or forgotten', our purpose is to ensure that every child, staff member, parent/caregiver and community member feels connected, supported and valued. We are committed to ensuring no one is left behind academically, socially/emotionally, physically or culturally.

Pannawonica School is a proud Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school. Our four school wide expectations - Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Resilient and Be Your Best are explicitly taught, modelled and celebrated across the school. We maintain a strong wellbeing focus, with Aussie Optimism delivered across all year levels and embedded in our social emotional learning framework.

Students and families have access to a comprehensive wellbeing support network including an Aboriginal & Islander Education Officer (AIEO), School Psychologist, and regular visiting specialists who assist with academic, behavioural, social emotional and physical development. This reflects our ongoing commitment to early identification, timely intervention and wrap around care for every child.

Our school is well resourced with a fully networked ICT system, interactive whiteboards, laptops and iPads supporting students to engage in digital learning, STEM opportunities and future focused skill development. Students in Years 7-12 access a blended learning model combining online instruction through the School of Isolated Distance Education with face to face teaching from qualified secondary specialists.

As a regional school at the heart of a mining community, Pannawonica School values strong partnerships with local industry and community organisations. These partnerships enhance opportunities for students, support resources and infrastructure, and strengthen connections for families new to the town. They contribute to learning enrichment, career awareness, community events and additional support for student wellbeing.
