At Paraburdoo Primary School, we are committed to providing every child with every opportunity, every day. Our purpose is to develop resilient, respectful and motivated learners who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a changing world. We aim to nurture and inspire students to become kind, capable and contributing members of society.
Located on Yinhawangka Country, we proudly embed cultural awareness and respect into our teaching, learning and community connections. Our diverse and inclusive school community welcomes families from across Australia and overseas, enriching our learning environment with a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
Paraburdoo Primary School caters for approximately 200 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. As the only school in Paraburdoo, enrolments may fluctuate with changes in the mining industry. Our team of dedicated staff includes both early career and experienced teachers who work collaboratively and are supported in leadership development and professional growth.
Our focus is on educating the whole child. While literacy, numeracy and digital technologies remain priorities, we also provide rich learning experiences through specialist programs in Physical Education and Science/STEM. Our dedicated STEM specialist delivers hands-on, future-focused learning in purpose-built Technology and Science rooms, supporting innovation, curiosity and critical thinking.
We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school with a strong foundation in high expectations, explicit teaching, and consistent routines and language. Through our Positive Expectations Learning Journey, we promote the values of kindness, respect and responsibility, ensuring every student understands what it means to use Kind Words, Kind Hands and Kind Hearts. The Paraburdoo Way provides a clear framework for behaviour, learning and engagement, aligned across all year levels.
We take pride in our inclusive approach, with education support staff implementing a range of programs and strategies to meet individual needs. Our safe and supportive environment ensures that all students feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to achieve their best.
Our strong partnerships with the Shire of Ashburton, Yinhawangka Aboriginal Corporation, Rio Tinto and local agencies enhance student learning and wellbeing. We value and encourage parental involvement through the P&C, classroom support, events, excursions and active participation in our School Board, which meets each term to monitor planning, review policies and support school improvement.
Our school facilities include:
A purpose-built early childhood centre
Art room, library and performing arts and cultural centre
Purpose-designed Technology and Science rooms
Covered assembly area and hard courts
A wireless ICT network, iPads, laptops and interactive screens in all classrooms
As an Independent Public School, we are committed to continuous improvement, high-quality teaching, and fostering a collaborative, future-focused school culture. At Paraburdoo Primary School, we work as one team to ensure every child is known, valued, challenged and supported.
