School Overview

Our Vision
Palmyra Primary School works with the community to foster a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment. Together, with high quality teaching and learning, we ensure students progress to achieve their social, emotional and academic best.

Our School
At Palmyra Primary, we are committed to providing a nurturing environment that fosters academic excellence and promotes civic responsibility.

Our dedicated staff members, who are passionate about education, work collaboratively to ensure that every student receives a quality learning experience. By continuously improving their own professional development, our teachers are equipped to deliver innovative and engaging lessons that cater to the individual needs of our students.

Our primary focus lies in nurturing strong foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, as we recognize their significance in equipping students for success in all areas of life. Through evidence-based programs and research-informed teaching practices, we ensure that our students develop the necessary reading, writing, and mathematical abilities that will empower them to excel academically and think critically.

Alongside our emphasis on core academic subjects, we believe in the importance of offering a range of specialist subjects and programs to promote holistic development. Through engaging and enriching experiences in Art, Music, Sustainability and Physical Education, our students are encouraged to explore their creativity, express themselves, and develop a deep appreciation for the arts, their physical well-being and our environment.

Furthermore, we support students to form culturally responsive attitudes, values and behaviours by developing understanding, respect and appreciation for all cultures, with a focus on our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and history. We also provide students the opportunity to learn Bahasa Indonesian language and gain understanding of their customs and culture.

We firmly believe in the power of community involvement and actively encourage parents, caregivers, and community members to join us in shaping the educational journey of our students. Palmyra Primary School serves as a hub for community engagement, with one prominent example being our renowned 'Pally Patch' - a school-community garden that provides hands-on learning opportunities for our students and fosters a sense of community and environmental awareness.

At Palmyra Primary, we strive to instil core values in our students that will guide them throughout their lives. Respect, responsibility, and the pursuit of personal excellence, Be Your Best, form the foundation of our school culture. We encourage our students to treat themselves, others, and their environment with respect, to take responsibility for their actions, and to always strive to be their best selves.

Together, let us nurture a community spirit and lifelong learners who are prepared to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future.
