Founded in 1935, Onslow School has a proud and enduring history of service to its community and, following its relocation to a new site in 2006, has grown into a diverse Kindy to Year 12 school that reflects the unique character of Onslow. The school is grounded in a shared commitment to learning together by building strong, respectful connections between staff, students, families and the wider community.
These relationships foster a deep sense of belonging and create a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports students academically, socially and emotionally. Respect for the culture and history of the Thalanyji people is central to the school's identity, with Two Way Science and Aboriginal Languages programs strengthening students' understanding of culture, country and community.
Onslow School offers a broad and responsive range of programs that support students at every stage of their learning journey. Our Early Years programs nurture a strong sense of belonging, resilience, communication and confidence, laying the foundations for lifelong learning. Across all year levels, evidence-based teaching and learning are guided by Department of Education priorities, strengthened through collaboration among staff and informed by student data, reflecting our commitment to learning and growing together.
By working in partnership with families, local industry, community organisations and external services, we create meaningful opportunities that enrich learning, support wellbeing and prepare students for life beyond school. In the secondary years, this includes access to work placements, career development pathways and flexible curriculum options supported by the School of Isolated and Distance Education.
Our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach and wellbeing programs reflect our shared values of safety, respect and inclusivity, helping to create a caring and welcoming environment where every student feels supported. This work is strengthened through strong partnerships with our School Council and P&C, ensuring our community continues to work together so that every student belongs and can thrive.
The rebrand of Onslow School brings this story together in a clear, contemporary and cohesive identity that reflects who we are and what we value. It captures the school's rich history, strong connections to people and place, commitment to inclusivity, and the diversity of programs and partnerships that support student success. Guided by the school motto, 'Together, we thrive,' the rebrand reinforces a shared vision of unity, belonging and collective responsibility, positioning Onslow School as a confident, future focused learning community where every student is nurtured, empowered and supported to thrive together.
