Nyabing Primary School (5358)

School Overview

Nyabing Primary School (NPS) is located 320km south-east of Perth in the Wheatbelt Education Region, with Katanning, our closest major centre situated 60km to the west. The school proudly serves families living in the town of Nyabing and the surrounding agricultural community, with most students travelling to school via one of three dedicated bus services. Set among attractive grounds, Salmon Gums and natural bushland, the school provides a calm, welcoming and engaging learning environment.

With 32 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, NPS offers three classes: an Early Childhood Centre (Kindergarten/Pre-primary), the Middle Room (Years 1-3), and the Senior Room (Years 4-6). Our small class sizes and highly skilled, committed staff ensure that every child receives personalised attention, high-quality instruction, and the support they need to thrive.

Our school is deeply committed to the goals of our Strategic Plan, which centres on excellence in teaching and learning, ensuring success for every student, and building strong community partnerships. Staff consistently implement whole-school, evidence-based instructional practices that drive year-on-year student growth. We recognise that students learn in different ways, and we prioritise a differentiated curriculum that responds to diverse learning needs, strengths and interests. NPS aims to equip every child with the academic, social and emotional skills needed to succeed now and into the future.

Students at NPS are respectful, inclusive, enthusiastic and independent learners. They experience a rich range of learning opportunities beyond the classroom, enabling them to build confidence, broaden their social experiences and strengthen connections with neighbouring schools. Regular events include the Dumbleyung Speech, Drama and Arts Festival, the Interschool Swimming Carnival, the South Lakes Athletics Carnival, Bush School, as well as a variety of excursions and incursions that enrich the curriculum.

The school boasts excellent facilities including a basketball court and large undercover area (constructed in 2009), netball/tennis courts, gazebos, extensive grassed play spaces and a large oval. Additional community facilities, including the Shire oval, tennis courts and pavilion are also easily accessible. Our main school building includes three classrooms, a staff room, administration area and resource spaces. A purpose-built demountable, added in 2011, houses our library and a specialist classroom for Science, Music and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).

Nyabing Primary School benefits from the strong support of an active and dedicated Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association. This partnership with families and the wider community is a vital element of our school's identity and success.
