Midvale Primary School (MPS) is located approximately 20km from the Perth CBD, within the City of Swan. Our current enrolment is approximately 350 students from Kindergarten to Year six. We have a very Multicultural school population which is drawn mainly from Midvale and Midland and the nearby suburbs of Viveash, Middle Swan and Swan View. Our school catchment lies in both the City of Swan and the Shire of Mundaring.
Our shared moral purpose states that, 'As a community we create a safe learning environment driven by high expectations for all students to achieve success in all areas'.
The school motto is 'Together Everyone Achieves More'. This understanding forms the foundation of a truly collaborative approach between staff, students, families and the wider community to change lives and expand possibilities.
The staff are committed to providing innovative, evidence-based programmes in a supportive and safe, trauma informed environment. Staff utilise Explicit Direct Instruction to teach in a direct, structured way, and this, along with other whole school programs, reduce within school variability so students are given the opportunity to achieve the best they are capable of.
The school supports students' academic and personal growth through Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), enabling the students to engage in learning in an inclusive environment. At MPS, students are Safe, Thoughtful, Achievers and Respectful and this is embedded in the school culture.
MPS is renowned for its outstanding pastoral care and excellent early intervention strategies. It has a reputation for being inclusive and providing quality education programs, especially for those with individual needs. We employ two Chaplains who support our school community two days per week, and we engage with many support agencies to ensure our students' needs are met. We provide fruit and toast daily which is available to all students in their teaching block, and we have access to lunches if needed.
All rooms have an interactive tv to ensure easy access to Digital learning experiences. There is a library resource centre; a computer laboratory; a purpose-built Early Childhood Education centre and a covered assembly area.
We have several very popular playgroups that are facilitated by the Midvale Hub and we are able to access the Child and Parent Centres in Middle Swan and Koongamia.
We are actively supported by our P&C Association and School Board that reflects and encourages our multi-cultural community partnerships and expectations.
