Lancelin Primary School (5272)

School Overview

Lancelin Primary School: inspiring excellence to fly high...empowering learners to see far. Our moral purpose underpins all we do at Lancelin Primary School. We are a proud Independent Public School having achieved this status in 2023, and are committed to ensure every student, in every classroom, every day are working to achieve the best they can be.

Our school is a little 'gem'. Located in the peaceful coastal town of Lancelin, surrounded by stunning beaches and beautiful bush. Our 'family' here at LPS includes students, staff, families and the extended community and we have a common goal, to ensure our students gain all they can from their time at LPS.

We encourage a whole child learning approach, where our students interact between the classes from an early age, ensuring they develop rich relationships with every student and staff member at our school. Our staff know our students, and their families implicitly which leads to a unique small school experience for our children, where they feel safe and supported.

We encourage Nature Play, where our students can climb trees, build cubbies, look after our chickens, or work in our community garden. We have opportunity to spend time at the beach, through sustainability activities or through sporting endeavours, and are encouraged to protect our indigenous land for our future generations.

Our students are encouraged to care for each other, as they would their family, stepping in and speaking up in regard to bullying and negative behaviours. Our students show exceptional behaviour and manners, which is something we are extremely proud of. We have a strong behaviour management policy at Lancelin Primary School with a firm but fair Good Standing Policy and are a PBS (Positive Behaviour in Schools) School in which the focus on the 'can do' of the child, and the positive behaviour solutions in regard to behaviour management.

Our students have excellent role models in our Year 6 Student Leadership Team, as well as having cohesive and dedicated teachers who have the educational, social and emotional needs of our children at the core of everything they do. We support our students to have a passion for learning, built on a foundation of respect of each other, teachers and all significant adults. Our students have opportunities to apply what they learn to real-life situations, and our dedicated teachers put incredible effort and creativity into the experiences they organise for their classes.

Our students work extremely hard to be the best that they can be, to feel confident being themselves and to build lasting friendships. We cultivate connections in our local community so students can make meaningful contributions to society through service and social action. This connection helps to create opportunities as our students move through primary and High school and onto further education, through the availability of work and study related opportunities in local and larger businesses within the Shire of Gingin.

We cater for children from Kindergarten to Year 6 from the town of Lancelin and the surrounding communities of Seaview Park, Ledge Point, Ocean Farms, Seabird and Redfield Park. We offer a 3-year-old Kindergarten readiness program for prospective Kindy Students, ensuring our new families feel secure and settled upon starting school.
We offer specialist experiences for our students in the areas of:

Science/STEM (Science, Technologies, Engineering and Maths) and Digital Technologies.
Music, Art and Drama.
Physical Education.
LOTE - Auslan.

We encourage parents and carers to be involved in your child's learning throughout the year and we are continually improving our support for your child - socially, emotionally and academically. Our students and staff love our little school - and so do our parents, and our community.

We would be delighted to show you what Lancelin Primary School can offer your child, and parents are encouraged to book a school tour.
