High Wycombe Primary School (5208)

School Overview

High Wycombe Primary School is an Independent Public School which was opened in 1961 on Whadjuk country. Our school is set in attractive and well-maintained grounds with considerable areas for students to learn and play. High Wycombe Primary School's moral purpose is Commitment to Growth.

The school vision is: High Wycombe Primary School aims to provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment sensitive to the needs of all. Every child will be encouraged to be the best person they can be. We will provide learning opportunities so that children are equipped to deal with the challenges of a changing world.

In 2022, the school commenced the Fogarty EDvance school improvement program, which has led to the refinement of the instructional model and whole school programs in English and mathematics. The school is focused on delivering high impact, low variation teaching in every classroom. Reading intervention programs provide further support to students. Staff are provided with professional learning and support opportunities to build capacity for high quality teaching. The school is creating the conditions for learning where student wellbeing and engagement is nurtured. As a WA Positive Behaviour Support school, behaviour expectations are identified, taught and reinforced. The expectations at High Wycombe Primary School are: Give your personal best; Respect; Our safety; and We are responsible and resilient (GROW). This is aligned to the school's commitment to growth. The school also promotes the core values of Australian Schooling.

Students have access to specialist teachers in the areas of The Arts, Physical Education, Languages Other Than English (Italian) and Science. There is a thriving school choir for students in Years 4 to 6. The school is proud of the sustainability program with projects including recycling, worm farm, chickens, composting, caring for an area of local bushland, and Waterwise.

As an Independent Public School, we work closely with our school community and take pride in these connections and partnerships. Our parents and community members are actively involved through our School Board and our Parents & Citizens Association. The School Board contributes significantly to our decision making, representing the views of our parents and wider community. Our school is fortunate to have parents and community members that work for and with the school staff to enhance the opportunities for our students. An out of school hours care service is delivered by Big Childcare and community groups access the school facilities to deliver sporting programs outside school hours.
