Welcome to Belmay Primary School
Built on 7.5 hectares of land, the bushland and open spaces at Belmay Primary School contribute greatly to the positive culture and welcoming environment of our school. The expansive site is shared with the South East Metropolitan Language Development Centre and Outreach Service, and a satellite class from Carson Street Primary School also operates within one of our classrooms. Together, the three schools work collaboratively and regularly connect through shared sporting and social programs throughout the year.
At Belmay Primary School, we are proud to be a connected and caring community where students, staff and families work together to create a positive, inclusive and high-quality learning environment. Our focus is on ensuring every child develops the skills, knowledge and confidence to become successful, caring and respectful members of society.
Guided by our whole-school improvement agenda, Belmay is committed to delivering excellent teaching and learning through evidence-based practice, strong instructional leadership and collaborative teamwork. Our staff work closely together to ensure consistent, high-quality instruction that responds to the diverse learning needs of every child.
Through data-informed teaching, explicit instruction and targeted support, we carefully monitor student progress and provide timely interventions so that all students can achieve success. Alongside academic learning, we place strong importance on student wellbeing, ensuring children feel safe, connected and supported within our school community.
Belmay has developed a strong reputation for excellence in teaching and learning, with many schools visiting to observe our whole-school approaches and collaborative practices. We are proud of the work taking place at our school and the positive difference it continues to make for our students.
Supporting the whole child is central to life at Belmay. Students are provided with opportunities to engage in enrichment activities including chess, Numero, choir and technology, while specialist teachers deliver programs in Physical Education, Italian, Visual Arts, Digital Technologies/ STEM and Science. These experiences broaden students' learning, nurture creativity and support the development of confident, well-rounded learners.
The Belmay Way At Belmay Primary School, our school culture is guided by The Belmay Way, built on three core values: Respect, Safety and Endeavour. These values underpin the expectations we have for learning, behaviour and relationships across our school community.
Respect means valuing ourselves, others, our community and the world around us. We demonstrate respect by being kind and considerate, using good manners, listening to others, caring for property and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn.
Safety ensures that every student feels secure and supported. At Belmay we promote safe behaviours by speaking kindly to others, using equipment responsibly, walking safely around the school, including others in activities and encouraging students to seek help when they need it.
Endeavour reflects our commitment to learning and personal growth. We encourage students to attempt new challenges, stay engaged in their learning, persevere when tasks become difficult and take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour.
These values guide how we learn and interact in classrooms, playgrounds and across our whole school community, helping to create a culture where every child feels respected, safe and inspired to do their best.
We are proud of the work taking place across our school and welcome school visits to share our whole-school approaches, improvement journey and commitment to high-quality teaching and learning, and to see our wonderful resources and the beautifully supportive learning environment we offer.
