Champion Bay Senior High School (4996)

School Overview

Champion Bay Senior High School is an Independent Public School that caters for students in Years 7-12. We provide a supportive and caring environment that emphasises the importance of respectful relationships and commitment to academic success across all programs in our school. Champion Bay Senior High School will develop students who are respectful, resilient and will aspire to achieve excellence.

Staff and students work together to demonstrate our agreed values of 'Respect, Aspire and Resilience'. Previously, our position as a middle school enabled us to develop a unique pastoral care model that centres on relationships and the development of a deep knowledge about our students. Our current team structure continues this work into the senior school, but also provides a learning area perspective for senior school students.

We believe in empowering our students to become independent learners, critical thinkers and problem solvers, in order for them to achieve their academic, social and emotional potential. At Champion Bay Senior High School, we provide a comprehensive curriculum, including an approved Specialist STEM program that is open to applicants across the region. Our Indonesian program offers students the opportunity to progress into an ATAR pathway. Students also excel in the opportunities provided by our extra-curricular activities in Music, Visual Arts and Dance.

In addition to our broad selection of ATAR and General courses, we offer Vocational Education and Training pathways for students in Years 11 and 12. We nurture and value our partnerships with local businesses and industry, Geraldton Universities Centre, and the major educational institutions including the University of Western Australia, Edith Cowan, Curtin and Murdoch Universities.

We are also fortunate to work with Follow the Dream, the Clontarf and Wirripanda Foundations, and SHINE Inspire Achieve Belong Inc. In 2021, Champion Bay Senior High School began working with the Fogarty Foundation Edvance school Improvement Program.

Our school is supported by a proactive Board and P&C and both groups are represented by a diverse and informed group of members from the community. Our school is well supported by our community.

Champion Bay Senior High School is complex, diverse and is enjoyed by members of the school community. The passion and commitment demonstrated by students, staff and community members working together creates a positive learning environment where our students are nurtured to be 'even better'.
