Leonora District High School (4151)

School Overview

Leonora is a town in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia, located approximately 833 kilometres northeast of Perth and 237 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie. Leonora District High School is a distinctive and vibrant school, catering for around 110 students from Kindergarten to Year 12, with approximately 78% identifying as Aboriginal.

Our students and staff embrace a culturally responsive environment, with the Wongkatha language taught on site and active participation in the Two-Way Science program.

We foster a supportive, inclusive and positive culture, offering innovative programs such as Two-Way Science, Kitchen-Garden, and a new on-site Food Greenhouse. Our goal is for every student to complete 13 years of schooling at Leonora, achieve their Western Australian Certificate of Education, and transition successfully into further education, training, or local employment.

We are proud of the strong, positive relationships we build with students, families, staff, and the wider community. Through our Positive Behaviour Support framework, we promote our core expectations: Consider, Achieve, Respect, Engage. We believe that engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences are essential to student success.

Our new three-year School Business Plan has now commenced, guided by our motto: We Care, We Succeed. With a focus on 'We Succeed' and high academic outcomes for all students, we align with the Department of Education's improvement driver to 'provide every student with a pathway to a successful future.'
