School Overview

Here at Safety Bay Senior High School our focus is your child and we are dedicated to ensuring they strive to Imagine with all their mind; Believe with all their heart; and to Achieve with all their might. We pride ourselves on diversity, care and respect every day...it is The Safety Bay Way!

Established in 1978, we have been part of the Safety Bay community for over forty years and now cater for 1300 students ranging from Year 7 through to Year 12.

Everything we do from teaching and learning to pastoral care, is centred around The Safety Bay Way, which is about having pride in our achievements and our school community, telling our own stories to help shape a brighter future for Safety Bay Senior High School.

As an Independent Public School, we offer students quality public education that will open the door to future opportunities whether that be in the workplace or in further education and training. We have a proud history of producing successful graduates who contribute to the community on a local, national, and global scale.
We are home to two Department of Education accredited Specialist programs, including Cheer-Dance and Football (Soccer).

The nationally recognised Cheer-Dance Specialist Program is dedicated to the growth and development of young Cheerleaders and Dancers. We encourage positive attitudes, healthy lifestyles, a strong work ethic, discipline, and perseverance. Our Specialist Football (Soccer) Program is a thriving, dynamic, successful elite sports program that combines sporting excellence, academic achievement, and personal growth.

In addition to our Specialist Programs, we also offer the Pathfinder Academic Excellence Program which allows gifted and talented students the opportunity to strive for excellence in all areas of their learning, and the Special Music Program which is designed for students currently learning an instrument through the Education Department's Instrumental Music Program.

At Safety Bay Senior High School, we have a flexible and inclusive approach to learning. Students have access to a myriad of resources across the school and many learning areas are developing online resources and learning environments which cater to the many different learning styles of students.

Included in our curriculum are a diverse range of visual arts and technology programs, including photography, sculpture, painting, ceramics, textiles, drawing, engineering, and robotics.

Physical education programs include a wide variety of sports and programs in Outdoor Recreation, which are available to students from Year 9 through to Year 12. Students can enjoy surfing, kayaking, mountain biking, abseiling, and bushwalking. We also have a popular Bushranger Cadets program running every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm to 5pm involving students from all year groups.

We also have a dedicated Student Services team available to help support your child's social and emotional needs through a range of positive pastoral care programs and behaviour management interventions.
