At Wagin District High School our goal is to provide an empowering environment for life-long learning. Our school provides educational opportunities for students from Kindergarten to Year 10. We aim to support our students to fully engage with their learning through fostering respectful and understanding relationships between students, staff and families. Our school motto of 'Aim High' encourages the entire Wagin District High School community to continually strive to do our best.
We acknowledge the differing circumstances and needs of our students and are dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for everyone. Our school offers small class sizes with passionate staff offering a wide variety of educational opportunities, subjects and courses including Science, Mathematics, English, Humanities and Social Sciences, Home Economics, Art, Information Technology, Design and Technology, and Health and Physical Education. Additional programs include Aboriginal Languages (Noongar) Program, Shooting Stars, Work placement opportunities for Years 9 and 10 students, School Based Traineeships for Year 10 students, Literacy and Numeracy support across all Phases of Learning and a Kitchen Garden program.
The school's facilities include an upgraded Home Economics kitchen and classroom, a modern and vibrant library, Kitchen Garden with outdoor classroom space, purpose built Design and Technology area, upgraded Science laboratory, an excellent Nature Play space and welcoming classrooms with break out spaces for independent and collaborative learning opportunities.
We recognise the value of working in partnership with parents, carers and the wider community in fulfilling our school vision. We encourage family involvement and believe the best outcomes are achieved when families and school work together. We embrace the cultural diversity of families in Wagin and celebrate with regular cultural appreciation activities. We have forged strong links with Katanning SHS and Narrogin SHS to provide students with access to sporting experiences from Sporting Schools, Shooting Stars, Clontarf and Deadly Sisters.
Our P & C and School Council are proactive in their support of the school and Wagin DHS has a strong support network with local businesses and community groups.
