School Overview

At Boyup Brook District High School, every child matters. We set high expectations, embrace cultural diversity, and foster community partnerships. With a commitment to high-quality teaching and strong relationships, we ensure student success and outcomes that go beyond academics. Together, we strive for excellence, creating an inclusive environment where every child thrives.

Nestled in the heart of Boyup Brook, a picturesque town in Western Australia's Southwest, our school benefits from its idyllic surroundings and strong community spirit. Known as the 'Country Music Capital' of WA, Boyup Brook offers a unique blend of rural charm, natural beauty, and vibrant culture. The Blackwood River, sprawling farmland, and rich biodiversity provide a stunning backdrop for both learning and living, creating a community-focused environment where families thrive.

Our school is uniquely situated across two sites, with the primary school and high school located 600 metres apart. This setup allows us to provide a tailored and seamless learning experience for students across all year levels, from Kindergarten to Year 10, while fostering a close-knit and supportive school community.

Our students are curious, kind, and resilient learners who embody our school values of Respect, Resilience, and Striving for Success. They are recognised across the community for their responsible and respectful approach, determination to overcome challenges, and commitment to personal growth.
We are focused on improving student achievement while ensuring that every child has a targeted pathway to a successful future. High-quality teaching is at the heart of our school, supported by a whole-school pedagogical framework and the use of data to inform teaching plans. Our professional learning community is dedicated to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning.

We prioritise creating a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment that promotes health and wellbeing for both students and staff. Students at educational risk are identified, supported, and closely monitored to ensure their engagement, attendance, and behaviour are addressed with care and understanding.

Strong partnerships with local organisations and meaningful parental engagement underpin our commitment to building a vibrant school community. We actively involve parents as partners in their children's learning, fostering a shared responsibility for student success.

At Boyup Brook District High School, students engage in a rich and diverse curriculum designed to cater to their interests and future aspirations. Primary students benefit from specialist instruction in visual arts, physical education, and science, while secondary students have access to a broad range of subjects, including outdoor education, agriculture, and media. Our Year 9 and 10 students can also enrol in Certificate courses in Agriculture, Sport and Recreation, and Digital Technologies. The innovative school farm project, which includes a collaboration with the Shire of Boyup Brook and Rylington Park, provides hands-on learning in sustainability, land regeneration, cropping, and animal husbandry. This initiative connects students to the local rural economy and offers valuable pathways to agricultural qualifications, ensuring they are well-prepared for future educational and career opportunities.

As a Positive Behaviour Support school, we cultivate a respectful and supportive culture where passionate and dedicated staff help students thrive. Meaningful learning extends beyond the classroom, with students participating in camps, excursions, workshops, and competitions that develop essential skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.

At Boyup Brook District High School, we blend the academic opportunities of a larger school with the personal care and connection of a smaller one. Our unique two-site setup, strong community partnerships, and commitment to high-quality teaching provide an environment where every student is valued. With a focus on inclusive values and personalised support, we empower every child to reach their full potential and achieve success, both academically and beyond.
