At Melville SHS, we provide a holistic education that develops individual strengths and supports students through various academic, artistic, creative, sporting, and personal development opportunities. We offer a Gifted and Talented Selective Academic program, Approved Specialist Programs in Aviation, Graphic Design Media and Netball, and school based Academic Extension and Music. Our programs are designed to extend and enrich the talents of all students, ensuring they develop essential skills for lifelong learning. We have developed innovative partnerships to support these programs with TAFEWA, Netball WA, and Flight Training Adelaide that provide opportunities for pathways into the Qantas Group Pilot Academy. Melville SHS is one of only two schools in Australia, and the only school in Western Australia, to have this partnership.
We emphasise creative and critical thinking through a comprehensive senior school offering, including ATAR, General and high-level Vocational Education courses, with strong industry partnerships. Our ATAR results remain incredibly strong, with consistently high numbers of Year 12s achieving in the top 5% of the state. Our students are recognised for their successes in Vocational Education and Training at a state level, achieving the Beazley Medal and WA Training awards.
These successes are also demonstrated in lower school, with Melville SHS placing in the Top 20 schools for NAPLAN achievement.
In addition to academic success, our students achieve outstanding results in the Arts and sport. Melville SHS is represented in prestigious, often select entries in community Arts exhibitions, projects, and performance events. Melville SHS is represented in over 50 interschool sporting teams, frequently placing as a top-five school in the McMahon Shield for School Sport WA.
