At Kent Street Senior High School, we are committed to high-quality teaching, meaningful learning and clear, purposeful assessment that enables every student to achieve their best. Our purpose is simple and important: that every student leaves Kent Street well prepared for life beyond school, with the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue their chosen pathways and reach their individual potential.
We aim to develop highly skilled, knowledgeable and adaptable young people who value lifelong learning and contribute positively to a vibrant, inclusive and caring community. Every student is known, supported and challenged, and we recognise that success looks different for each young person.
Kent Street teachers promote a strong culture of endeavour and achievement and take pride in being innovative, nurturing and creative in their practice. Our classrooms are places where students are engaged, think deeply and are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. A broad range of opportunities and supports ensures students can thrive academically, socially and personally.
We offer a diverse and engaging Years 7-12 curriculum, with academic and vocational pathways leading to the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Kent Street Senior High School is well known for its long-standing Approved Specialist Programs in Aviation, Cricket, and Fashion and Design, which provide students with opportunities to develop their interests and talents in depth.
Building on this tradition, the school offers Katalyst, a Science specialist program designed to ignite curiosity and extend the potential of students through authentic, real-world applications. Katalyst fosters critical thinking, deep scientific understanding and a passion for inquiry, empowering students with the motivation and skills to confidently navigate dynamic and evolving futures.
Beyond the classroom, students engage in a wide range of local, national and international learning experiences, including excursions, fieldwork and tours that enrich learning and broaden perspectives. Through these experiences, students develop confidence, independence, resilience, generosity and compassion.
Kent Street Senior High School is proud of its diverse and inclusive community. Our shared values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Achievement, reflected in our motto Courage to Achieve, shape how we learn, work together and support one another.
Since opening in 1940, the school has built a strong reputation for success while continuing to adapt to contemporary learning needs.
Conveniently located four kilometres south-east of the Perth CBD, Kent Street Senior High School offers excellent facilities, including a swimming pool, large gymnasium, performing arts theatre, dedicated Aviation Centre with two aircrafts, turf cricket wickets, Curtin Trade Training Centre, eight refurbished science laboratories, a fitness centre and a modern library and learning hub.
Strong partnerships with families, industry and the wider community are central to the life of the school. Parents and carers are valued as key partners in education, and industry connections - including Virgin Australia Airlines, the WACA Ground, Essense of Australia, and Rotary Residential College - enrich learning and support future pathways for students.
We warmly welcome prospective families to visit the school, meet our staff and see learning in action. We look forward to supporting every student throughout their journey at Kent Street Senior High School.
