Other Funding for RTOs

In addition to User Choice, the Western Australian government offers funding to registered training organisations (RTOs) in order to support industry growth and provide community groups with better training and employment opportunities.

The Competitive Allocation of Training Program
The Competitive Allocation of Training (CAT) is designed to assist the Department to:

  • meet the skill requirements of industry
  • help people who are under-represented in vocational education and training to gain new skills and employment.

The Department will consider applications from RTOs that:

  • are recognised in WA by the Training Accreditation Council (TAC)
  • possess the qualification as part of their current scope and delivery.

The training must be delivered to members of one of the nominated target groups including:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
  • women
  • people with disabilities
  • youth at risk
  • people over 45 years
  • people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • people living in remote areas

Further details are available from the Department of Education and Training's Competitive Programs page.

Indigenous Education Strategic Initiatives Program
The Indigenous Education Strategic Initiatives Program (IESIP) is a Commonwealth program administered by the WA Department of Education and Training (DET).

The program provides supplementary funding to training providers to support initiatives which improve training outcomes for Indigenous students.

Further details are available from the IESIP page. For more information on competitive funding programs for training providers contact DET.
