The Department currently operates the following programs for the funding of training delivery:
The Competitive Allocation of Training (CAT) Access ProgramThe Competitive Allocation of Training (CAT) Access program funds Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to deliver nationally and State recognised training programs to clients from one or more of the following equity target groups:
Training programs proposed under the CAT Access program must be customised to meet the specific needs of each distinct client group and, where appropriate, have a high degree of community involvement and support. Joint Indigenous Funding Pool (JIFP) ProgramThe Joint Indigenous Funding Pool (JIFP) is a program funded jointly by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) and the Western Australian Department of Education and Training. The JIFP program funds Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to deliver nationally and State recognised training programs to Indigenous clients. Training programs delivered under the JIFP program must be customised to meet the specific needs of Indigenous clients and must have a high degree of community involvement and support. Indigenous Training Support (ITS) ProgramThe Indigenous Training Support (ITS) program has been developed to enhance training and employment outcomes for Indigenous people in regional and remote areas of Western Australia. The ITS program is jointly funded by the Western Australian Department of Education and Training and the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training. The ITS program funds Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and not-for-profit Group Training Organisations (GTOs) - working in partnership with community-based organisations and employers - to co-ordinate the provision of support services for associated training programs to Indigenous clients. Initiatives should be based on partnerships that involve local industry contributions, whereby companies directly benefit from increased work skills of Indigenous participants. ITS 2008ETG 1293/2007 Stage 2 Applications are invited to provide training support services under the 2008 Indigenous Training Support program. Applications must be completed using the ITS 2008 Application Form available to download from this website. This Call for Applications closes at 12 Midnight (WST) Tuesday 30th September 2008. Critical Skills ProgramThe Critical Skills program provides funding to private Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) for the delivery of training that meets Critical Skills shortages. Participants undertaking training under the Critical Skills program may be new entrants into the workforce or they may be existing workers in either full-time, part-time, permanent, temporary or contract employment.
