Metropolitan schools

There are over 440 schools across the Perth metropolitan area ranging from very large secondary schools with over 1,500 students through to small special schools for students with disabilities.

Each school offers opportunities, choice, diversity and a great education for students. They focus on:

  • excellence in learning
  • excellence in teaching
  • values as the basis for learning
  • caring for and supporting students.

Some schools also offer programs specifically for students who are academically gifted, artistic, and/or sports orientated.

There are a few schools in Perth that are part of the Metropolitan Teaching Program. This program provides additional financial incentives to teachers who choose to teach in one of these schools. To find out more, contact Teaching WA.
