Teacher Advocates

Teacher advocates are practising teachers with many years of experience, including time spent working in rural and remote areas. They make regular visits to all the universities in WA giving presentations covering a wide range of topics including:

  • employment opportunities with the Department
  • applying for a teaching position
  • teaching in the country, including the benefits and allowances on offer
  • ‘things I wish I’d known before I started teaching’
  • professional learning support provided to graduate teachers.

Look out for posters around your university advertising the advocates’ next visit. They will be happy to answer your questions about teaching in a public school.
