Hospital School Services
Q: Does Hospital School services have the same school holidays as all other public schools?A: Yes. All of our programs operate during normal school terms. We are unable to provide a Visiting Teacher Service during the
school holidays.

website. Anyone interested in doing relief teaching
or Education Assistant work can phone 9340 8529 and leave their details with the school officer.
Anyone who wants to seek work with HSS must have Police Clearance. This is a requirement by DET and Princess Margaret Hospital.
We ask those seeking relief to do a half day shadowing to learn about and have some understanding of our unique school environment.
Back to topQ: How long has there been a school at PMH and at our other locations?A: A teacher was sought by the Princess Margaret Hospital Board in 1943 and periodic visits were made. Royal Perth Hospital management
provided accommodation for an Education Centre for secondary to adult students at the Shenton Park Campus in 1969. Since then
other off site programs have been amalgamated into HSS e.g. Psychological medicine programs, Andrew Relph Centre (1982) and
Bentley Hospital Transition Unit (1997).

Back to topQ: What hours does the RPH program open?A: We are open from 9am to 3pm throughout normal school terms. We are also open for Low Activity Days.
Back to topQ: Where is HSS Located?A: HSS is a multi-sited school and we have programs at the following sites: PMH (Subiaco); RPH ( Rehabilitation, Centre Shenton
Park Campus); W.A.Y Centre and Families At Work are in the Transition Unit at Bentley Hospital; Andrew Relph at Warwick Child
and Adolescent Centre; and Family Pathways (Stubbs Terrace in Shenton Park).
Back to topQ: Who can attend the RPH program?A: We do have school-age students but most of our students are post compulsory age. Students attendance is based on a referral
from a RPH doctor.

Q: What are Statewide Specialist Services?A: Statewide Specialist Services provide support for students with disabilities and diverse learning needs. A range of visiting
teachers, support officers and other consultants from the Centre for Inclusive Schooling, Hospital School Services, Vision
Education Service and the WA Institute for Deaf Education and district education offices collaborate to provide specialist
support to school communities.
