Smart Steps: Road safety education for carers of 0-4 year olds

Who: Staff who work with parents and young children 0 to 4 years old

What:

Do you work with parents and young children aged 0 to 4 years? Would you like a program that provides road safety ideas and activities?

Health and road safety agencies and early childhood teachers can attend a Smart Step workshop to increase their understanding of safer road use practices for families and carers of very young children.

Workshops focus on passenger safety and child car restraints; pedestrian safety; safer play areas; and the important role parents play in teaching their children safer road user behaviours.

A free Smart Steps kit is available to facilitators who have completed the workshop. The kit contains a range of resources including a facilitator’s guide; child car restraint brochure; discussion photos; posters; CD; DVD; activities for children; road signs; and stickers with road safety messages. Some resources are available free for families and health and road safety professionals.

When: 8.15am - 3.15pm
