Smart Steps: Road safety education for carers of 0-4 year olds

Evidence that shows that the most effective time to get involved in good road safety practices is early childhood, including the ante-natal period (Elliott, 2001).

Smart Steps is a free parent and carer community based education program that supports parents and carers to model safe behaviours and make safer decisions in the road environment for young children. It addresses three key areas of risk regarding the use of child car restraints and general passenger safety, safe pedestrian practices and safer play.
