Rethinking Drinking

Rethinking DrinkingThe Rethinking Drinking - You're in Control alcohol education materials provide an inclusive resource for use by both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. The materials offer a choice of lessons and activities for teachers. They provide what is currently missing in terms of cultural understanding and cultural inclusiveness and can be used by all schools. The target audience is Years 8-10, but the materials are flexible enough for teachers to modify for younger students if required.

The resource includes a video featuring two scenarios targeting young people in a range of urban and rural settings. They provide a diversity of opinion on some of the issues involving young people and alcohol use. Classroom materials comprising a program of 12 lesson topics and a student workbook integrate with the lesson topics and the video.

The Rethinking Drinking resource was distributed to all schools with secondary enrolments in October 2004.
