For schools

Schools play an important role in teaching children and young people about resilience, drug and road safety.

Research shows that while ‘one off’ presentations may complement a classroom-based program, the most effective way to convey health messages is to use ongoing learning.  SDERA has a large range of evidence-based resilience, alcohol and drug, and road safety education resources that can be used by school and early childhood staff. They include teacher resource books, storybooks, CDs, DVDs, printable fact sheets, family packs, games and activities.

Professional learning workshops and seminars are free and are scheduled at various times and venues throughout the year in metropolitan and regional areas. SDERA covers associated costs and contributes up to $350 towards teacher relief for each teacher who attends. Browse the SDERA Calendar of events for current professional learning workshops. Registration is necessary as workshops have limited spaces.

SDERA can help schools to assess their needs and develop a whole school approach to resilience, drug and road safety education.
