The Department of Education Screening Unit currently conducts National Police History Checks through the federal CrimTrac
Agency for the Education and Training sectors in Western Australia. This includes Public schools and people engaged in State
Training Providers (formerly TAFE Colleges), Catholic & Independent schools, and also teaching students in WA universities.
The Working with Children Check is a comprehensive criminal record check for certain people working with children in Western
Australia.
The Working with Children Check is a separate requirement from the Department's Criminal Record Check. In some circumstances
both checks may be required.
