Gwynne Park Education Support Centre (6075)

School Overview

Gwynne Park Education Support Centre (ESC) is a school which shares the same campus as the Gwynne Park Primary School in the Armadale suburb of Brookdale. We are an inclusive school, welcoming all students and families, valuing respect for all people, cultures and religions.

Each student at the centre has their own Individual Education Plan (IEP) which is developed in collaboration with key stakeholders, such as, parents and carers, service providers and community members. The IEP specifies each student's current goals and how the goals and outcomes will be taught and are revised twice yearly to inform progress, achievement and areas for future learning. The role of family in the development of each child is recognised and integral in our school.

The Gwynne Park ESC is a purpose built school, which opened in 1991 and across the school campus Gwynne Park ESC has nine air conditioned classrooms. Gwynne Park ESC has a fully equipped functional kitchen, multi -sensory interactive Therapy Room (Rainbow Room) with accompanying technologies and resources and laundry with ablution facilities.

Other specialist equipment includes a Trampoline Park, Bike Track and Flying Fox. Together the Gwynne Park Schools share a range of facilities including a well-equipped library, assembly and undercover stage area, staff room, music room, canteen, playground areas and other specialist teaching areas.

All staff at the school are trained in a range of specific programs such as Letters and Sounds, 4 Block Literacy and Explicit Teaching Strategies. Our school is a WAPBS School focussing on growing in the values of Perseverance, Excellence, Safe and Communication.

Our School Board plays an important role in contributing to our school governance so that school resources are used efficiently and community expectations and the school's priorities reflect the needs of our students. We are also an active member of the Education Support South Network.
