Hilton Primary School (5211)

School Overview

Kaya, Welcome to Hilton Primary School on Wadjuk Noongar Boodjar. We have recently revised our school purpose and values to develop our Plan For Growth 2021-2024. Aligned with the DOEWA strategic plan: 'Every student, every classroom, every day', at Hilton Primary school: 'Every child's learning is nurtured every day'. Our school currently nurtures 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, with 100 of these students in Kindergarten or Pre Primary. Our small school numbers enhance our close and caring school community.

To support students to achieve their full potential, we aim to provide a full and balanced curriculum that encourages social-emotional development, explicit teaching and play-based learning. We strive to cater for individual students' needs, as well as challenging and extending students' strengths and interests.

Our teaching staff contribute a wide range of experiences and expertise. Our Kindergarten and PrePrimary teachers have specialist training in early childhood education. The staff are committed to delivering high quality learning experiences to allow students to achieve to the best of their ability.

Our school's specialist programs include Music, Visual Arts, Physical Education and French. Information technology is embedded in the curriculum. We have iPads in Pre Primary to Year 6 classrooms and 2 laptop trolleys available for our Year 3-6 classes. Other technology used includes large screen TV's, Apple TV's, Smart Boards and classroom computers.

Hilton Primary School is situated on beautiful, spacious, sustainably managed grounds with multiple play areas and outdoor classrooms (developed by our staff and parents through our Grounds Committee). We have specialist classrooms for Music, Visual Arts and Science. We are regularly reviewing the use of teaching-learning spaces to accommodate growing student numbers and to enhance student learning.

Hilton Primary has a very supportive school community. Our active P&C enhances the learning and life experiences of the students and arranges many school social events such as the Welcome Picnic and our Winter Solstice celebration. The School Board adds governance to the school as a valuable group with a diverse skill set. Each class has a Parent Representative who supports communication between the teachers and class families. Our Teachers are regularly available to discuss teaching or learning and to refer to the Student Services Team, as necessary. Our Student Services Team includes our School Psychologist, Learning Support Coordinator, Chaplain, Deputy Principal and the School Principal.
