Balcatta Senior High School is situated in the northern suburbs of Perth. As an Independent Public School, we make decisions at the local level to ensure our students have opportunities for success and to better meet the needs of our school community. We have a long and rich history of providing students with an inclusive and enriching educational experience, embracing diversity and valuing difference. Our teachers and support staff know their students and are committed to creating a positive, engaging learning experiences where students can achieve their full potential.
We provide many opportunities and programs for students to develop, enhance and exhibit attitudes and values which allow them to develop into competent, confident and caring young adults who promote a healthy lifestyle in themselves and in others, and who are able to take their place in the community.
Our balanced and stimulating arts curriculum fosters initiative, creativity and achievement in our students. We offer a Gifted and Talented Visual Art Program, an Approved Specialist Program in Dance, and a Saturday morning Young Masters' Program in The Arts for Year 5 and Year 6 students. Students can also apply for our school-based Music program and Academic Extension Program.
Students in Years 7 to 10 are engaged in all learning areas of the Western Australian Curriculum. Year 11 and Year 12 students are offered a comprehensive range of ATAR and General courses which equip students for successful entry to university, further training or employment. The school also offers the full range of vocationally oriented programs which enable students to pursue traineeships, apprenticeships and on-the-job training as well as a range of certificate courses. We have launched our new Education Support Program, designed to provide a comprehensive education experience for students with special needs.
A Year 7 Parent Owned Device (POD) program has been implemented and we look forward to the opportunities this program will facilitate for our students.
We work closely with our parents to ensure our students are cared for, respected and provided with the support and guidance they need at school and for the future. We value and work closely with our local intake primary schools and community organisations to ensure that our students receive a rich and diverse educational experience.
Our school has undergone a significant rebuild and refurbishment program with state-of-the-art facilities and learning spaces to promote modern contemporary learning. These new facilities include:

* Resurfaced and upgraded swimming pool

Our facilities are designed to support the artistic, academic, sporting and social learning and achievement of students.
