The future of young people depends very much on the simple act of going to school. It is necessary and it is the law.
Schools cannot do this alone. Schools, parents, businesses, support agencies and communities must work together – it is a shared responsibility and mutual obligation.
Better attendance: brighter futures is a draft nine point plan to address the issue of poor school attendance.
The Minister for Education, the Hon Liz Constable, has opened a three month consultation period for interested parties to provide feedback on the plan.
This feedback can be given online
from 13 August to 21 November 2009 and will help refine the plan.
