Information for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)

Registered training organisations (RTOs), both private and public, may accept the full-time enrolment of a student in the year in which they turn 16 or 17 providing an appropriate form has been completed by the student's parent/carer.

For TAFEWA enrolments, provided the parent consent form is signed, there is no need for a Notice of Arrangements.

For private RTO enrolments, a Notice of Arrangements (Form A) must be completed by the parent/carer and submitted with a copy of the enrolment.

A part-time enrolment is possible if it is part of a full-time, approved Combination of Options.  If a young person is in a full-time approved option or combination, any additional education, training or employment is at their parent's discretion and is not subject to approval.

More information about the roles and responsibilities of RTOs can be found in the brochure Changes to the school leaving age (pdf brochure - 24 pages). Or you can just download the pages relevant to RTOs.

You can also contact a Manager Participation at your district education office for assistance.
