The Challenge is being run for the seventh year and is open to all children from Kindergarten to Year 7, including home
schooled children.
The Challenge provides children with an opportunity to develop and maintain strong literacy skills.
The Challenge runs from 7 December 2009 to 8 February 2010.
The Challenge will be for children and also their parents to read for 10 and 15 hours during the Challenge period.
All schools will be sent Reading Challenge entry forms for distribution to students. Children are encouraged to track their reading using the special reading log. For every five hours of reading, children can collect a sticker from their local library along with a prize.
Public libraries will be sent Reading Challenge entry forms, stickers, posters, tattoos, erasers, pencils and bookmarks.
This year public libraries have an opportunity to win a voucher to spend $500 at Child Education Services.
