Welcome, young challengers!

Dear brave knights and fair maidens,

It’s Blaze the Dragon here. I invite you to the round table where I will reveal the challenge for the upcoming summer holidays.

I have set you an important task. Between 7 December 2009 and 8 February 2010, I call upon all knights and maidens in Kindergarten to Year 3 to read for 10 hours and those in Year 4 to 7 to read for 15 hours. You can choose to read anything from books, magazines, newspapers or comics. Our friends at the State Library of Western Australia have put together a Challenge book list which can help you get started.

My loyal knights and maidens, the Challenge involves more than just reading. There are many activities that you, your friends and parents can do together. I challenge you to also write a book review, an acrostic poem, leave a message on the Challengers’ Blog, or have Mum or Dad read to you.

For those brave knights and fair maidens who are up to facing the Challenge, I urge you to register your details on this website. Should you complete the Challenge I have bestowed, you will be rewarded with one of my many honourable prizes.

But don’t fret; your efforts along the way will be rewarded. For every five hours you complete, head down to your local library to receive a sticker for your Challenge log and a small prize.

Yours sincerely

Blaze the Dragon
