Terms and Conditions of Entry

1. By entering the Challenge, entrants’ parents/carers agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

2. Challenge is open to K-7 students (2009 school year) in Western Australian schools and to students who receive home schooling in Western Australia.

3. Challenge period is 7 December 2009 to 8 February 2010 inclusive. Entries must be received by 15 February 2010 at Department of Education, 151 Royal Street, East Perth WA 6004 or at a local public library. Entry is by completing an entry form and recording reading of 10 hours for children from Kindergarten to Year 3 and 15 hours for children from Years 4 to 7. Entry forms must be signed by a parent/carer. No responsibility is taken for entries not received by the Department.

4. Stickers and prizes consisting of bookmarks, pencils, erasers and tattoos will be given out to children for every five hours of reading completed during the Challenge. Stickers and prizes can only be collected from a Western Australian local public library. Although every effort will be taken to ensure sufficient stocks of stickers and prizes are supplied to libraries, a limited supply is available. Stickers and prizes will be available only until stocks run out.

5. Each entrant sending a completed entry form will receive a certificate signed by the Premier. Only one certificate per entrant will be sent regardless of the number of entries submitted.

6. There will be three prize draws for children entering the Challenge:
i) for children from K- 7 for the major prize,
ii) for children from Kindergarten to Year 3 and
iii) for children from Year 4 to 7.

Prizes will be awarded to the first 536 valid entries selected at random on 26 February 2010 at the East Perth office of the Department of Education.

7. There will be one major prize consisting of a trip for two adults and two children to Broome, Western Australia, valued at up to $6,000 from QBE Australia. The first valid entry drawn will win the prize. The prize includes: Return economy flights to Broome from the nearest Western Australian airport and four nights accommodation. The trip must be taken before 30 November 2010. If the winner lives in Broome, an alternative trip within Western Australia to the same value will be offered.

8. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 notebook and a book from Fremantle Press.

9. There will be two prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 sticker set and a book from Fremantle Press.

10. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 key chain and a book from Fremantle Press.

11. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 umbrella and a book from Fremantle Press.

12. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 aluminium bottle and a book from Fremantle Press.

13. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 sling bag and a book from Fremantle Press.

14. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 cap and a book from Fremantle Press.

15. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 USB drive and a book from Fremantle Press.

16. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 children’s watch and a book from Fremantle Press

17. There will be five prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 colour changing mug and a book from Fremantle Press.

18. There will be ten prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 Yo Yo with light and a book from Fremantle Press.

19. There will be ten prizes consisting of a Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 frisbee with a book from Fremantle press.

20. There will be ten prizes consisting of an iPod Shuffle (2GB) and a book from Fremantle Press.

21. There will be ten prizes consisting of an Itty Bitty Book Light and a book from Fremantle Press.

22. There will be 448 prizes each consisting of a children’s book from Fremantle Press.

23. There will be two prize draws for parents/carers who have either read to their child throughout the Challenge or have participated in the Parent Challenge and have ticked the box on the entry form. Prizes will be awarded to the first two valid entries selected at random on 26 February 2010 at the East Perth office of the Department of Education. There will be two prizes consisting of a Coles Myer voucher and a book package from Fremantle Press valued at up to $500.

24. The prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-transferable. The draw will be final and cannot be contested. No correspondence will be entered into. Although every effort will be made to ensure prizes and certificates are sent to the address stated on the entry form, the Department takes no responsibility for items not received by entrants.

25. Entry constitutes the consent of entrants’ parents/carers for personal information of entrants collected in the entry to be used by the Western Australian Government for promotional purposes.

26. The State of Western Australia accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, accident, death or injury resulting directly or indirectly from the Challenge.

27. The Department of Education will not be responsible for any failure by sponsors to fulfil obligations to donate prizes as previously agreed.

28. The Challenge may be withdrawn at any time without notice.
