OVERVIEW OF CHANGES – NEW POLICIES

RECRUITMENT, SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS

The policy replaces the current Recruitment, Selection and Appointment of School Administrators policy and parts of the previously removed Placement, Transfer and Deployment of School Administrators policy with a revision of the Recruitment, Selection and Appointment of Principal and Deputy Principal Positions policy.

As a result, the current recruitment, selection and appointment process in place for principals and deputy principals now applies to all school administrators.

REDEPLOYMENT OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS

The policy replaces the current Redeployment for Principals and Deputy Principals policy and the previously removed Placement, Transfer and Deployment of School Administrators policy.

The current redeployment process in place for principals and deputy principals therefore now applies to all school administrators.

OVERVIEW OF CHANGES – REVISED POLICIES

ANIMALS IN SCHOOLS

A change has been made to the policy scope that relates to activities excluded from it.

CHILD PROTECTION

A new section has been added at the procedures at 6.6 to address staff conduct and electronic communication.

CONFIGURATION OF THE SCHOOL DAY

Changes have been made that relate to managing bushfire emergencies. The Principal's Guide to Bushfire has been added to the related documents section and a guideline has been added to section 5.4.1 - Health and safety concerns.

ENROLMENT

Information supplied to parents in Appendix B has been re-structured to be clearer for readers, using new headings.

EXCURSIONS: OFF SCHOOL SITES

Minor amendments to section 5.10.1 of the Excursions: Off School Sites Activities policy have been made. The amendments are to reflect procedures in the current Official Air Travel policy, which relate to travel application approval processes.

HEALTHY FOOD AND DRINK

A guideline has been added to Section 5.4 to provide advice to teachers for working with parents who provide food for classroom activities.

HOME EDUCATION

The policy has undergone its three-yearly major review. All relevant stakeholders were consulted in the review and no substantial changes to the original policy were required.

RECORDS MANAGEMENT

The Records Management policy has undergone a comprehensive review. The document has been restructured to more clearly show different employees’ record-keeping responsibilities.

VISITORS AND INTRUDERS ON SCHOOL PREMISES

A guideline has been added to section 6.5.4 that relates to issuing of prohibition orders where the behaviour leading to the prohibition order has occurred off the school site.

This policy has been replaced by the Redeployment of School Administrators policy.

PROVISION OF GRANTS

This policy has been withdrawn. Please contact Lian Borlace, Director Strategic Procurement on 9264 4285 if you require assistance with any grants or service agreements.

This policy has been replaced by the Recruitment, Selection and Appointment of School Administrators policy.

OVERVIEW OF CHANGES - NEW CEO INSTRUCTIONS

CEO INSTRUCTION: WEAPONS IN SCHOOLS

The instruction relates to procedures that must be observed by principals in performing their function of maintaining good order on school premises and managing incidents involving weapons.

NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM LITERACY AND NUMERACY (NAPLAN) - CEO INSTRUCTION

The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) CEO instruction concerns employee duties for the implementation and administration of the NAPLAN testing in public schools.

REVISED CEO INSTRUCTIONS

DECLARATION OF LOCAL-INTAKE AREAS FOR SCHOOLS

The list of local-intake schools has been updated for designated local-intake area schools for 2010.
